Juxtaposition

While initially I enjoy looking at this photograph, I find that my eyes enjoy and are annoyed by it at the same time.
Positives:
I enjoy the subject of the photograph, the small glass of grape juice which is mostly empty. It paints the picture of a sunny afternoon picnic. I also like the unassuming balance that it has, the background is unassuming and doesn’t hinder the eyes from caressing the glass yet is also a key aspect to the balance that is crucial to the beauty of this image. I also like the illusion of a precise depth of field. Excellent positioning on the table to allow the red bar, fence, tree, and even table to give you a leading line.
Negatives:
I am unhappy about the lack of focus, the entire image is blurry and distracting. While this was probably taken with a point and shoot, I believe the F-stop could have been played with to allow a little more light and the shutter speed to allow more contrast. One’s lighting should assist in creating a focal point in the photograph and it doesn’t here. Watch your negative space in the back ground.
