In the Crystal Ball
He had caught the crystal sphere with one hand, surprising even himself with the task as his reflexes were hardly healed from their latest damage. He also, however, immediately dropped said sphere onto the hard pavement in the middle of the street. Surprisingly, it didn't crack, or roll away. For that matter, it did nothing. As a perfect sphere made of what appeared to be crystalline glass, it defied all odds. That was why Caravi continued to stand in the middle of the thankfully empty street at approximately 3:27 in the morning. He stood, bending over in order to better examine the odd object that had quite so abruptly shocked him. Caravi slowly brought one hand over it, gingerly coming closer until he was all but touching the opaque surface. Nothing happened. He twitched one finger, touching it. something did happen. Something big, for that matter. As if from some large source of energy bottled up inside of the object that was most certainly not from the current planet, a bolt of raw energy snaked out and shocked Caravi. Hands tingling once again, Caravi sent the sphere a disgusted look. "How in the world am I supposed to figure out what you are, or even where you came from if I can't even touch you?" he sighed in exasperation, contemplating his dilemma. A flickering light appeared on the surface of the sphere in response.
"That's no way to answer me!" Caravi shot back without thinking. He paused, and blinked. "Wait a second... I just understood that! You can communicate!"

Hm, interesting. Where does this fit in with the other prompts? It seems a bit different from the others.
