"The problem with diffusing bombs that are meant to destroy entire planets," Caravi explained, "is that they tend to be extremely bright when diffused."

Most of the day since his unexpectedly early  return had already passed, and still Caravi barely argued against remaining in bed.

"So, it blinded you?"

"Something closer to the lines of burning." Caravi clarified as he gingerly felt his way into a seated position, eyelids still closed against the light. "We- my people, that is- have a third aspect, another layer of specialized lenses that help us to adapt better to the various light spectrum- we see more of it then you can. Accordingly, we need more natural protection."
