"How's he doing?" Gravor asked, resisting the urge to peer through the small crack that the mostly closed door had left, like some young and inquisitive  child. "Any change yet? For that matter-  any improvement?"

"He's still in the coma," Zimot replied, "and I'm barely getting anything in terms of mental activity from what I understand of his computer readings."

"And... that's a good thing?"

"Supposedly, yes. He made it very clear that there would be virtually impossible to reach him. It was the only way that he could focus enough to create the antitoxins necessary.  The chemicals he's on help to subdue the pain and to sustain the rest of his body's systems at the same time. I also put him on a solution that I hope will start to counteract his energy deficit these last few weeks."

Three full days passed before Caravi showed any sign of waking, and when he did, the rest of the crew heaved a collective sigh of relief.

Zimot alone entered the room as Caravi gingerly stretched out his limbs, his expression already noticeably lighter, and more free. Zimot smiled as Caravi tested out his hand and fingers that were now marked only by a faint discoloration  where the lines had once been nearly black.

"I need a good shower. And a change of clothes.... definitely a change of clothes," Caravi said. "I'll be back out in a bit."

Zimot grinned happily and let him  pass before he went to update the rest of the crew. "Caravi's up, and everything' seems to be back to normal, if not better. I think he just may have come to grips with a ton of issues. I'd have to talk with him, but there is a good chance that he's finally realized that not everything was his fault after all."  Zimot couldn't help the slight laughter that came from utter relief. "I think it might have actually worked!"
